Vitaco reduces Bar Line water usage by 4.73m litres per annum.
The enrober used for chocolate at our Bar line uses a heat exchanger to keep the chocolate at an optimum operating temperature. The heat exchanger was connected to the town water supply and then redirected to the waste drain.
One of our engineers smartly figured out that he could modify the system to be supplied via our chilled water recirculation system.
This modification drastically reduced our water consumption. The minimum water consumption used in the heat exchanger is 9 litres per minute, this equates to a whopping reduction of 4.73 million litres per annum.
